GreenWay Masterplan

You should be aware of the State Government's announcement of the Metropolitan Transport Plan two weeks ago that includes starting work immediately on the light rail extension to Dulwich Hill. In all the haste to announce the light rail extension the GreenWay Masterplan seems to have been overlooked. It is true that The Mayor Of Marrickville has kept it on the agenda but if you live in the Marrickville electorate you might have received Carmel Tebbutt's letter that endorses Light Rail but fails to mention its connection with the GreenWay.

RTA plan for Victoria Rd bike route released for comment

The RTA has released its final plan (REF) for the cycleway upgrade along Victoria Road. There appears to have been no changes to their position since about June/July when we last had a meeting with BTBA and a walk-through of the Rozelle side). The REF does not have a lot of detail in terms of designs or drawings but I assume they are mostly as we have gleaned in the last year or more.

I also spoke to Verity Firth and she says she will make representations to the Ministers on our behalf for some more funding or some more attention to the things the RTA has left out or only half heartedly addressed.

A fresh, green wind is blowing through Warringah Council, which recently voted to adopt a ‘sustainable transport strategy’. Part of this strategy involves allocating 10 per cent of the council’s road budget to the construction or upgrading of bike paths.
