Volunteering - what's involved?

Bicycle NSW runs numerous cycling events throughout the year, for which we need teams of volunteers throughout the year in many different ways.

Event Day

We need hundreds of volunteers on Event Day: from Route Marshals to Start Site Assistants, Logistics to Masseurs, there is a role to suit everyone.

Check out the Events page for our upcoming events and see where you can get involved.

Pre and Post Event

We also need Volunteers to help us out before and after the events: in the office, at our equipment store, or around towns and communities.

Office Volunteers

Help us out in our office with admin jobs and mailouts throughout the year. Office Volunteers are especially needed during the run up to events when the Rider Kits are mailed out to all event participants.

This is a great way to lend a few hours of your time and find out everything about the event.

Special Abilities

If you have an interest in mapping, computer design, or are able to interpret statistics, we would be delighted if you could spare a few hours of your time to help move our plans and material forward. Just let us know what you can do, and we’ll let you know what we have to do!

What do our Volunteers get?

We value our Volunteers a great deal and like to recognise the time, effort and resources they give up to make our events the success they are.

Each year we hold a Volunteer Party to recognise our Volunteers and to say Thank You for their hard work.

For each event we also provide:

  • Special transport arrangements to and from our events
  • Morning Tea or Lunch
  • Specially designed Volunteers' hat
  • Event-specific Volunteers' T-shirt
  • Certificate of participation
  • Satisfaction of helping others
  • Hands-on work experience
  • References on request
  • Pre-event briefing and training
