Top Ten Tips to Volunteering

  • Pick a Volunteer role that is right for you. Think about what volunteering for Bicycle NSW can offer you - such as new skills, being with others, fun, an opportunity to make a difference or contribute to a cause that you believe in.
  • Plan your time, so it's not wasted. Decide how much time you can offer towards volunteering. Think about your schedule and how much of a commitment you can give.
  • Know what you have to offer an organisation. Is it time, enthusiasm, life skills, work skills, or passion about a cause?
  • Learn more about Bicycle NSW before you volunteer with us. Find out what requirements and skills are needed and what training is offered to new volunteers.
  • Arrange your travel before your volunteer experience
  • Ask questions-no question is a silly question
  • Read all the information you are given and if there is something you don't understand ask!
  • Call and talk to the volunteer manager at Bicycle NSW. This person is an excellent resource to guide you through the application process and your volunteer involvement with the Bicycle NSW.
  • Volunteer with a friend.
  • Have fun!
