What is the Bicycle NSW Discovery Weekend?
The Bicycle NSW Discovery Weekend is a non-competitive weekend away to a regional town in NSW. The weekend involves a series of rides of different lengths and different abilities, showcasing the beautiful scenery and attractions of the area.
When do entries close?
Online entries close on Friday 16 March 2012 at 4pm (AEST)
Can I enter on the day?
Yes, you can enter on the day at the Central HUB, Endeavour Oval Woodward Road Orange. Make sure you allow extra time for this.
How do I get my Rider Number?
Rider Numbers will be sent via the post for all registrations made before 4pm on Friday 9 March 2012. For all registrations made after this time, you will need to collect your Rider Number from the Central HUB when you arrive in Orange. Please attach your Rider Number to the front of your bike.

What is a Child Entry?
Child Entries must be 16 or under on the first day of the event (23 March 2012)
How much does it cost for a small child to enter the ride?
Children under 5 years of age on the event day will ride for free.
If Under 5s are free, why do I need to register them online?
Although it is free for Under 5s to come on the Discovery Weekend, we need a record of everyone taking part in the event for safety reasons
Can I ride a tandem? Is this 1 or 2 entries?
Of course you can ride the Discovery Weekend on a tandem, but both riders are required to register for the ride. This is a safety requirement of the ride.
When do Early Bird Entry fees end?
At Midnight on Thursday 22 December 2011
I have registered but can no longer do the ride. Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
Entries are not refundable or transferable
Do I need to organise my own travel or is it included in the entry price?
You will need to organise your own travel arrangements to and from the event. Your entry into the event does not include travel. If you want to travel with another participant on the event then why not create a post on the online community. Click Here

On the Rides - What if I can't make the distance on any of the days?
We provide a Sweep Bus which follows the ride and can pick you up if you can't manage to ride any further. The Sweep Bus will take you to the nearest rest stop or back to the Central HUB.
Am I insured when I am on the ride?
Discovery Weekend riders who are Bicycle NSW members are covered under Bicycle NSW Member insurance which includes Personal Accident and Public Liability cover. Discovery Weekend riders who are not Bicycle NSW members are not covered from this insurance.
You can purchase BNSW Membership prior to registering for the Discovery Weekend and then benefit from discounted entry to the event and also insurance cover. Click Here for more details.
Can I ride with my child in a trailer or baby seat?
Yes you can, but please make sure that your child is also a registered entrant in the event.
What happens if it rains on the day?
The Discovery Weekend will go ahead come rain or shine!

What's the weather like at that time of year?
The weather in Orange in March usually has cool nights (8-12 degrees) and mild days (18-22 degrees) - obviously this may vary and you should check the weather forecast before you come away.
Do I have to camp?
No, you don't have to camp at the Central HUB if you don't wish. There are plenty of accommodation options available in Orange Click Here for information on accommodation in Orange.
Are powered sites available?
No, all camp sites are un-powered. If you require power to say charge your mobile phone then you are more than welcome to use the power available at the Bicycle NSW stand.
What sort of bike should I bring?
The Discovery Weekend provides rides for different types of bikes and abilities. Details of all the rides can be found HERE which will also detail what type of bicycles are suitable for the ride and the level of difficulty.
Will there be food available at the Central HUB?
The Emu Rugby Club will have food and drinks available at the Central HUB, however the town centre of Orange is less than a 5min bike ride away so we strongly encourage you to head into town to enjoy what the community has on offer.
Yes, there will be water available at the Central HUB. Please remember to drink lots of water in preparation for the Rides.

There will be toilets & showers available at Central HUB.
You can arrive anytime from 10am on Friday.
To get you started on your Discovery Weekend, Bicycle NSW will organise a Bicycle Orienteering BONUS Ride, which involves no designated route or distance. So you can start whenever you want, take as long as you want and just cycle your own way.
