Commuter Challenge

Registrations for the Commuter Challenge are now closed.

About the Commuter Challenge

The Bicycle NSW Commuter Challenge is an initiative to encourage and reward you to cycle all or part of the journey to work and to also encourage cycling outside of the workplace - for transport, fitness and recreation.

The Bicycle NSW Commuter Challenge invites you to select a distance goal (250km, 500km, 1000km, 2000km or 5000km) to cycle before the close of the challenge 31 March 2012.

Recording your rides

Upon registering for the challenge you'll have the option to receive either a paper, e-log book or use an online journal to log your rides. Once you've accumulated kilometres and have reached your chosen goal return your log book to receive a certificate of completion.

If you experience problems downloading your log book please email challenge@bicyclensw.org.au

Form a Team

This year you'll also have the option of forming a team. A team can be formed from any group of people doing the challenge.  If you are a team captain please register your team details here. Your team name will then appear on a drop down menu on the registration form and you and your team mates will be able to register using the registration form. Your team goal will be the sum of your individual team mates' goals.

Winning Prizes

We've got prizes to give out! Check the monthly newsletter to see if you've won! Bicycle NSW memberships, Commuter Challenge Jerseys and other cycling accessories up for grabs!

Stay Safe

When out riding always remember to:

  • Wear your helmet and make sure it's fitted correctly
  • Check over your bike before you set of, especially looking at tire pressures, brake function and chain quality
  • Be seen - wear bright or fluorescent colours or use reflective tape or markings
  • When out riding be assertive and considerate of other road users, warn others of your intentions when turning or stopping and obey road rules and signs

Stay Hydrated

Our bodies are around two-thirds water, so it is hardly surprising that water is crucial to our health and general well-being.

Find out more about keeping hydrated or see how much water you need to drink to stay hydrated using the Brita Hydration Calculator.

(An individual's daily intake can be influenced by factors such as age, weight, medical condition, medication, physical activity and ambient temperature. It is advisable to follow or seek medical advice, especially in the case of reduced kidney function)
