Creating a better environment for cycling

BUG Council Terms of Reference

These terms can be modified and added to as required by the Council.

• Define what a BUG is and produce guidelines around this
• Contribute to develop BUG Master Ride Leader accreditation
• To help create (and determine) the flow and types of information between BUGs and BNSW
• Provide a framework where BUGs can meet either in person or electronically on a regular basis as a group.
• Provide the opportunity for BUGs to spread ideas, ask questions and discuss situations re government policy

The BUG Council meets bi-monthly, ideally with at least one representative of each affiliated BUG, interacting on issues with common goals.

To be covered by Bicycle NSW insurance for your Bicycle User Group events, fair days, Rides and Ride leaders, your group will need to do the following:

You will need to become incorporated

• Complete Form A1 - Application for reservation of name. The proposed name of an association must be reserved by lodging Form A1 - Application for reservation of name before an applicationto register an incorporated association or an application for approval to change the name of an incorporated association can be registered. A name reservation lasts for three months. If the association is not incorporated within that period the name reservation will expire and will become available for reservation by another person.
• CompleteForm A2 - Application for registration of incorporated association. This form must be lodged in order to incorporate an association where the application is being made on behalf of at least 5 individuals or an existing unincorporated body. This form must be accompanied by Form A1 - Application for reservation of name unless the name has previously been reserved. This form must be signed by the person nominated to be the first public officer of the incorporated association.
• A draft copy of the Model constitution for your association which have been adapted for our BUGs with the help of Bike North BUG is available from Liz Hole at Bicycle NSW at ehole@bicyclensw.org.au. All your executive committee members and BNSW trained Ride Leaders must be members of Bicycle NSW
