Mike Rubbo’s blog: http://www.situp-cycle.com
This blog encourages you to use a bike as transport. That’s what I’ve come to do after far too many years in my car. Not for every trip, of course, but for the shorter ones. Those are now all by bike. And not any old bike.
I’ve found that the secret to re biking yourself is to go for the comfort of sitting up perfectly straight as if you were royalty on wheels.
Mike Rubbo has made a short film about Sue Abbott, a feisty and principled woman, who went to court in Scone on 28 September for refusing to pay a bike helmet fine. Sue, 49, originally a British nurse, has cycled all over the world, and was never required to wear a helmet. She's also ridden 15 km a day back and forth from her farm to Scone for the last 18 months, again without a helmet, often seen by the local police and yet never pulled over.
Not until a highway patrol decided to do so in March this year.
