Congratulations and thank you to all the students who sent in artwork. In addition to the above we have selected some pieces of artwork from the many entries to be used throughout our marketing material - keep an eye out for your artwork!

The Bicycle NSW Ride2School program was officially launched on National Ride2School Day 2008 by The Hon. Verity Firth MP. Minister for Climate Change and the Environment. Schools can register with the program to recieve a number of benefits that are proven to increase the number and frequency of students choosing active travel.
"Ride2School is not just about riding bicycles, it’s about working with school staff and students to safely promote and encourage active travel and educating that the decision to ride, walk, skate or scooter to and from school (and in the community) has a positive effect on both the individual and the wider environment both now and in the future."

Registration is quick and easy and takes a couple of minutes. The program has been designed to consume a small amount of your time yet have a big impact.

Hands Up! results for June are now available to view online. Click here to see the results. Congratulations to all schools who entered data - each school will be recieving a cycle computer. Lets go for more great results in July!

WHY SHOULD YOUR SCHOOL BE INVOLVED WITH RIDE2SCHOOL?

Ride2School works with schools, students and parents to get more students walking and riding more often. Principals tell us that students who walk or ride to school arrive exercised, socialized and ready to learn. The Ride2School program operates to increase the number of students choosing active travel both for the benefit of personal health and the wider environment, by reducing carbon emissions.

Registration in the program shows your commitment to promote safe and responsible active travel within your school. Ride2School works with participating schools to develop activities and infrastructure that promote active travel for students. In particular, the program works to:
  • Develop quiet neighborhood walking and riding routes for students and parents.
  • Establish secure and sheltered parking for students who ride to school
  • Deliver bike education to all students
  • Make active travel and road safety an integrated part of the curriculum
  • Promote active transport as a sustainable and healthy behaviour in the wider community and equip young people with the skills to choose active transport both now and in the future
