Systems Administrator

Part Time position (Minimum 3 days per week)
 
This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your skills, energy, and help to drive the mechanics of our IT needs forward. You'll need to be “hands on” with a “can do” attitude, completely comfortable with the Windows business networks and databases as tools of the trade, and motivated by a fast paced and small but dynamic work environment.

General Duties Include:

  • Manage Server and Network  
  • Database queries
  • Office PC maintenance and upgrades/updates/installs
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Membership Systems, this role is a key part of the organisations mechanics providing Bicycle NSW with stable and functional IT systems to move forward.
The role will suit a recent IT graduate or someone with a background in IT service and delivery and who is keen to “grow with us” as part of a close knit team.
You will need sound written and verbal communication skills, be well organised and confident in working in a team as well as self directed.
 
Website programming and maintenance skills would also be a handy skill to have.

Bicycle New South Wales would not exist without the help and support of the kind members volunteering their time and efforts to our various needs.

There are many ways to volunteer around the office from folding letters, answering phones, typing to helping build this very website. Our membership is vast and varied and we're hoping to see more of you play a vital role in helping to support and encourage cycling in NSW.

Project Managers

Ride 2 Work & Ride 2 School Program - Project Managers

 

In association with the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Bicycle NSW has two newly created full time positions for Project Managers responsible for the development of a Ride to Work and /or a Ride to School program for NSW.

 

Essential requirements

Ø       Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills at all levels

Ø       High level organisational skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects

Ø       Experience in researching, analysing and developing policy

Ø       Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders in the achievement of project/program outcomes

Ø       Demonstrated extensive experience in developing and maintaining effective networks
  with government agencies, industry and community groups.
Ø       Broad knowledge of the working of governments and public sector administration
Ø       Demonstrated experience working with people across multi-disciplinary fields of expertise

 

General requirements:

Ø       You must be bright and enthusiastic

Ø       Able to work in a team environment, and in an open plan office

Ø       A confident communicator

Ø       Experienced in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint 

Ø       Both of these roles involve engaging with the community at a grass roots and practical
  level and so an ability to ride a bike and working knowledge of bikes would be an advantage.
Ø       Willing to work outside normal hours to attend functions, events, meetings, and other relevant 
  Bicycle NSW/community activities is required.

 

Desirable requirements

Ø       Knowledge of Australian health and sustainability issues in the global and Australian context.

Ø       Commitment to cycling, health and environmental sustainability.

Ø       Knowledge of EEO and Affirmative action principles within a work environment.

Ø       Knowledge of relevant OH&S legislation and requirements.

Bicycle NSW (BNSW) is a member-funded and -owned, not-for-profit peak community organisation established in 1976 as the Bicycle Institute of NSW, changing to its present name in 1994.

Are you a member of Bicycle NSW? Have you ever thought about coming to work with us? Well now is your chance. Brian Fong our Assistant accountant (knowto us as the fountain of all knowledge), cyclist and member of Bike North is looking for a likeminded assistant.

 

The role is all about engaging with our members, present, new and returning, and maintaining our members and bicycle lockers data base. As we say here “more people cycling more often” WHY “because life’s better on a bike!”

 

Skills you will need:

Great telephone manner

Data entry – good eye for detail

Able to work as a team member

Knowledge of bicycle parts (useful but not essential)

Fabulous personality

Experience with software applications: All Microsoft Office programs.
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience in Office Administration and Customer Service

There will be some weekend work and out of normal office hours work leading up to our events.
We maybe relocating offices to another CBD location or Sydney Olympic Park

Events Coordinator

Bicycle NSW (BNSW) is a democratically constituted, not for profit community based organisation, whose purpose is to promote, advocate, and support cycling in all its forms as an environmentally sustainable and healthy form of transport, recreation and tourism. 

This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your skills, energy, and commitment to our cause, and be involved in Bicycle NSW events going forward. Events Coordinator

July 2008- October 2008 with view to permanent role

Reporting to the Events Director, this role will appeal to an experienced events coordinator who has the skills and passion for delivering high quality events service.  The role will be focused on coordinating aspects of the City of Sydney Spring Cycle in October; however it is anticipated that the right person will move into a permanent event coordinating role within Bicycle NSW following this event.

You will need experience in all areas of event coordination particularly task management and maintaining stakeholder relationships, be a confident communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills, good computer skills, be well organised and prepared to work outside of normal hours as the job requires.
