Bicycle NSW Constitutional Review.

In February the Board announced a review of the Bicycle NSW Constitution.
(See February 2008 News from the Board
)

The Board debated the proposed changes to the constitution at the 4th June Board meeting. In respect of the proposed changes, we agreed to progress some, modify others, and drop some of them altogether - the final result is detailed below in the 10th June update document. This document will also serve as the brief to the Bicycle NSW Lawyers to allow them to draft a revised version of the constitution which will be posted here in early October for members to review before the AGM.

A big thank you to all our members who took the time to provide comments and ideas about both the proposed changes, and other aspects of the constitution - it was great to have all the input to consider in our final debate.

2007 Bicycle NSW Annual General Meeting

The 2007 AGM was held on Saturday 3rd November 2007 in Sydney.

To download a copy of the President, Treasurer and Chief Executive Officer presentations to the meeting click here

Minutes of the meeting will be posted here as soon as they become available.

The meeting was very well attended, with some 1917 votes cast, over 5 times the number of votes cast in comparison with the AGMs held in recent years.

A number of documents were made available to members at the meeting and copies are available including the following:

2007 Annual Report

Bicycle NSW Annual Financial Statements for year ended 30th June 2007

Bicycle NSW Constitution

The significant increase in member participation at the AGM was very encouraging, indicating a growing level of interest among the membership of Bicycle NSW in the future of our organization and our goals.

This increased level of member participation led to the identification of the need for Bicycle NSW to consider and introduce ways to:

  • make the voting process (including proxies) simpler and more transparent to members, particularly for those from Regional NSW.
  • improve communications between members and the Board
The board has already initiated actions (including this page) to improve communications and a review of the constitution and voting processes is underway.
